Rotary Presents $35,000 to Local Community Organizations

Posted July 17, 2014

On July 9, the Rotary Club of Auburn Alabama presented $35,000 in annual community grants to local, community-based organizations meeting critical medical, youth development, hunger relief, and educational needs of our friends and neighbors. As these funds were a result of the club's 2014 Rotary Riches fundraising efforts, the club also recognized those companies that sponsored this year's Rotary Riches program. These grants are part of the more than $47,000 the club gifted to local nonprofit organizations during its 2013-14 club year. Some of the organizations on hand to receive grants included (left to right, front row) Lisa Jackson Stephens of the Domestic Violence Intervention Center; Kay Harris of Lee County Partnership for Children; Wanda Lewis of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Lee County; Micah Melnick of the BigHouse Foundation; and Pollyanna Brannan of Women’s Hope Medical Clinic; (back row) Auburn Rotary Club President Kathy Powell; Alan Spencer of the Saugahatchee District, Boy Scouts of America; Mary Lynn Porter of Lee County Partnership for Children; Sue Edge of the Lee County Literacy Coalition; Martha Henk and Elsie Lott of the Food Bank of East Alabama/Community Market; and Dr. Dell Crosby of Mercy Medical. Organizations receiving grants but not pictured include The Salvation Army and Storybook Farm.
